A rapid strength developing, full depth patching system, utilizing type III Portland Cement concrete and using calcium chloride as an accelerator is described. Compressive strengths of 3000 psi are achieved in approximately four hours. The temperature of the concrete at the time of placement is 90°F± 5°F. Procedures used to achieve these temperatures are described. Moisture barrier and insulation boards are used to enhance rapid strength development. An explanation of the kinetics of calcium chloride accelerated concrete hydration is presented. Various methods of re-establishing load transfer and cost comparisons between them are discussed.
