Abstract

Roller compacted concrete (RCC) is a concrete mixture characterized by a low cementitious paste content that requires external compaction energy, i.e., rollers for pavements and mechanical hammers for beam and cylinder specimens. The addition of fibers to conventional concrete has been shown to increase the flexural slab capacity and extend the cracking life. The objective of this study is to quantify how several fiber types impact the compactability and green strength of RCC at various elapse times after initial mixing.
